About the Design

Le Corbusier developed the Modulor as a universal measurement unit for architecture, based on the height and proportions of a person.

Tired of the world using two virtually incompatible systems, such as the imperial and metric systems, Le Corbusier decided to base his scale on the human body. It seemed logical to him that if buildings where meant to be used by people, they should be designed according to their size, and not any other arbitrary measurement system.

The first Modulor was born in 1943, and has remained an architect’s best friend ever since!
